New to DCS is the ability to sling load realistically in the UH-1H Huey. Here’s a video of me giving it a go for the first time.
It’s been a while since I’ve flown the Huey so it took a little getting used to. Also for some reason my virtual camera that looks down didn’t work so I had to do this one blind.
The physics of the sling are highly realistic, in fact you can see that helicopter behaves extremely well throughout. If you’re looking for a helicopter sim, this one should be a top contender.
Other things I noticed about the Huey were the splotches on the windscreen, new sounds and a lovely vibration animation of the front console.
Sling loading itself opens up more opportunity for civilian flights in DCS. Future development is apparently planned to add battlefield insertion of artillery via sling load. That will work great with a Combined Arms player being resupplied or reinforced.
Do you fly the Huey? If so, what do you do with it?
