I jumped back into Nelson Airport to put a more custom main carpark together. I also rounded up some of the GA areas with more objects. I think the airport is basically good to go at this point.

Items that need finalisation: the parking spots have some numbering on the ground, so I added this as a draped polygon. The numbers don’t look exactly the same and drawing polygons that are of equal dimensions and rotated are extremely painful.

These are the numbers and arrows that I’d like to add:

I’ve done all the taxiway lines. The arrows and stops / turns aren’t easily created, but I’ll do what I can with the default assets.

From there I think it’s worth reviewing what work is needed on the new ortho before I share it. Currently, I’m thinking of this:

Remove some more boats that annoy me

Review the masking on harbours around Wellington and the west cost of the North Island from Port Waikato south.

The borders between tiles have some strange mesh issues, including an underwater wall through Tauranga Harbour and other borders that looking like a seam through the world. I’ve rebuilt the meshes but that didn’t fix it. It might be an issue with Ortho4XP 1.4?

I’d like to repaint the water in the Chatham Islands and remask the water there.

Currently, everything is using the standard mesh, while I can redo it with a custom DEM to get a UHD mesh. I’m not sure if this is as important with the new X-Plane 12 engine which looks great even with a standard mesh.

Stewart Island doesn’t look good, but I dont have any recent imagery on the LINZ data service to use.

I’d love to redo the imagery for the Marlborough Sounds and LINZ has some recent imagery that looks great. This would be an awesome area to get water masking to uncover the water colours in this area.

From there I’ll need to do a bunch of testing to find other issues that need fixing. I know 100% that there are some South Island coast where the water blending runs out of scenery and creates a strange smudge into the water.

I’d love to add Auckland Islands even though there’s no where to land (unless you have a sea plane with some long legs).
