NZNS: lording over Nelson

I’m about done with NZNS. I started this because mysteriously NZNS disappeared from my airport list, which I somehow fixed halfway through creating a new one but by then I was committed to finishing it.

The default scenery NZNS is from 2016 and isn’t completely terrible, but really not great. This objective of this work is to make something good enough for default scenery and definitely not something that requires additional custom scenery libraries.

Here’s a look at the current state in WED:

Over in the GA section there are very few objects placed, so I’ll probably add some more life over there. The public car parking area just a facade that auto-generates parking rows and a fence around it, which looks pretty bad. I’ll probably replace this with custom objects.

I’ve not yet added any ATC rules, and I’m not sure if there’s too much to setup, but 20 is right hand traffic and 02 is left I think.

I also need to setup some AI service vehicle routes, but it will be very minimal.

Some of the runway markings and light setup is probably incorrect.

I’ve yet to add the taxiway signage and I’d love to know how to setup the name and numbering on the ground for numbering the gates / ramps.

You can see that I’ve setup the taxi routes:

I’ve not added much ramp starts yet, just the main gates and a couple in the GA section.

I’ll share some more images once it is closer to finished, but here’s some shots:

Next I’ll probably update NZTK – Takaka Aerodrome. It’s currently setup with a high fence around it and is kind of underwhelming. But its nice spot to hop to and our around Golden Bay.
