Painting the harbour

I spent a lot of time photoshopping boats out of imagery around the Northland. You’ll still find some 2D boats, but you find fewer of them. I also did the ports etc. That should make it quite nice for landing your sea plane in a popular destination without having 2D boats drawn on the sea floor around you.

The south end of Kaipara Harbour didn’t have connected aerial photography, so I redid the masking and painted in a tile:

One of the squares above is fake. Interestingly, this means we now get a new island that isn’t in the previous ortho. I guess this is a sand bar maybe? This area doesn’t look great right now, but I think I’ll leave it be.

The masking around Auckland was far too faint, so I redid it all. The water details around the Waitemata will now be much more apparent. All boats and docked ships in the harbour, marinas and estuaries have (mostly) been removed.

I’ve not done the outer harbour or the Lake in Takapuna. So I’ll have a look at that perhaps.

Now on to finishing Nelson. I’m building the parking lot and then I’ll add some clutter around the GA.

  1. Wow, the work and progress you are making looks amazing. Some of the stuff you are tweaking/correcting is well above my pay grade. Can’t wait to see the resulting Orthos for XP12 in their completed form.

Appreciating your efforts a lot. πŸ‘πŸ˜
